Vehicle Speed Sensor
Vehicle Speed Sensor
Data from vehicle speed sensors (VSS) play many roles in a properly functioning modern automobile. The operation of anti-lock brakes, traction control, cruise control and automatic transmissions may depend on a working vehicle speed sensor. The sensors are often mounted in the transmission case or rear differential assembly. Those in the transmission are typically gear driven and those in the differential function by using an electromagnetic system. Both styles of sensors perform the same task.
TPI offers a range of over 200 SKU’s of vehicle speed sensors. All sensors meet or exceed OEM specifications OE specifications. All of TPI’s vehicle speed sensors are thoroughly tested against heat, cold, vibration and salt spray in a production facility which is QSO/ISO certified. Each sensor is carefully packed with a silica bag to avoid oxidization and moisture.
Failure Mode:
Drivability symptoms caused by a faulty sensor can vary greatly due to the number of systems that use data from the VSS. A malfunctioning speedometer, poor shifting or an ABS light are some of the possible indications. A P0500 or similar check engine light may be a result of a failing vehicle speed sensor.
